Bio

Oscar Lino is a climate researcher at the Research hub for Kenya Red Cross Societies-International Centre for Humanitarian Affairs (ICHA) with four-year experience in scientific and social research. He has one year experience working as a humanitarian actor, helping vulnerable persons build resilience people centered innovations and climate smart approaches. He is correspondingly plying as a research fellow at the Climate Model Evaluation Hub LaunchPAD project. His work aims at understanding how simplification of terrain sharpness in atmospheric models affects features of the simulated Turkana jet stream.  The jet stream is understood to be a major driver of climate over East Africa due to its influence on winds and rainfall.  

Oscar’s research interests are in impact-based forecasting and applications within humanitarian forecast-based fund management. He is a professionally qualified scientist and researcher with primarily a Bsc (Meteorology) from the University of Nairobi and has recently completed a two-year programme coursework and a reserch thesis towards the award of Masters in Meteorlogy from the same university.
